Breathing New Life into CenterTrak

As some of you have already heard, and for those of you who have not, I will be returning to the area where CenterTrak was originally founded. After nearly five years away, while still keeping the group breathing, I will be moving back to the La Crosse, WI area on July 1st, 2015. It is my hope that after the move I can find new members and build the group strong again.

I know what you are thinking. With 10 modules stored away in my trailer, and 4 new ones in the works, with about 4 more planned, why do I need more members? As someone said to me recently, “you are you own train club”. That’s not entirely true. Although I am the only member who has set up modules at a show recently, there are three other members who have been working on modules. I hope to re-engage these members over the next few months.

Even with the number of modules I currently own, am building, and planning to build, we can always use additional members. There are some “missing pieces” that we need, such as a few more corners, a couple of 2-to1 modules, and a staging yard for operations, among other things. I can also only operate one, maybe two, trains at a time, so we need more people to operate trains at setups.

I am not sure what we will do to attract new members. With only one active train show with layouts (which is not big enough for a good Free-mo layout) – it’s hard for people to see Free-mo in our area. I am hoping to arrange for a couple private setups each year so that those with a little interest can be invited to see what we are doing. Perhaps a couple public setups may not be a bad idea either.

I have already started updating our web site as you can see. I have a lot more to do, but right now I have to go figure out how all of my modules are going to fit in one trailer!
