Brett Williams, Ph.D., CSE’s senior principal advisor for Transportation Programs, has been appointed to a second three-year term on the Alternative Transportation Fuels and Technologies committee of the Transportation Research Board. The appointment recognizes Williams’ expertise and places him among national leaders in clean transportation research.
Williams has worked for two decades with companies, government agencies, NGOs and academic institutions in the U.S. and Europe to investigate alternative fuels and the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). He has held positions for the Rocky Mountain Institute, Ford Motor Company and UC Berkeley.
Prior to joining CSE in August 2014, Williams was program director for EVs and Alternative Fuels at UCLA’s Luskin Center for Innovation and an assistant adjunct professor in public policy.
At CSE, he leads activities supporting the transparency and evaluation of several statewide EV incentive programs and is involved in EV market analysis, stakeholder engagement, policy analysis and business development within the Transportation Team.
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in physics/public policy analysis from Pomona College, a master’s degree in environment and development from Cambridge University (UK) and a Ph.D. in transportation technology and policy from UC Davis.
The Transportation Research Board is one of seven program units of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, with the mission to promote innovation and progress in transportation through objective and interdisciplinary research.
